Alexander Yurchik, deputy minister of transport of the Russian Federation, Anton Grove, vice-president of the International Air Transport Association (IATA), and Vladimir Tasun, president of the Russian Association of Air Transport Operators (AEWT), took headline roles in the 2019 Wings of the Future event. In their speeches and welcome addresses they emphasised the increasing importance and relevance of this event for both Russian and global air transportation industry executives.

Keynote speaker testimonials
The forum is a great platform to make sure we are [all] on the same page, in addition, of course, it is a great place where you can express all your heart felt needs to a professional audience, share plans, discuss with your colleagues critical aspects of operating foreign and domestic aircraft in the context of a new stage for airlines and market development. You can say very relevant things, emphasise the shortcomings, and know it will be understood.
Vladimir Gorbunov, director general, Yakutiya Airlines
First of all, when I thought about going or not attending this event, I looked at the list of participants and was pleasantly surprised that all the main players of Russia and the CIS aviation market were here — all the main partners of Riga Airport, so that we are in close contact with airlines and airports. That was one motivation for me to come here and, the second of course, was the range of forum topics that are also very relevant for Riga Airport as well.
Arturs Saveljevs, Member of the Board, Director of Commercial Department, Riga International Airport
This is my first time at this event and I am happy that all the topics discussed resonate with IATA’s strategic priorities: digital transformation is one of them. A special stream was dedicated to human capital management and the requirements for highly qualified workers in the coming years, another important aspect of IATA. A panel discussion was very interesting, where airlines shared their methods of striving for the passenger. Differentiation of the range of airline services is also a strategic priority of IATA. I think this is a great event: top-level speakers and excellent organisation.
Kate Markhvida, Senior Economist, IATA
I believe events like this truly get people to talk about the challenges. This is not a theoretical event. These are the things affecting the industry and I mean a total aviation industry, every day.
Anton Grove, Vice President People performance and Development, IATA
Russia is very important for the whole European airline industry. It is a good event. You meet a lot of people. Speeches are also very interesting
Bjorn Kjos, CEO, Norwegian
There is a very good balance of speakers. Some people are bringing the airline perspective, some people are bringing the aircraft perspective. I was trying to really bring the airport perspective. So we have a good mix. I see people who are extremely knowledgably about the industry.
Benoit Verbaere, Business Development Director, SITA
Wing of the Future became a central industry event not only due to the agenda but also due to great networking opportunities
Kirill Budaev, Vice President, Marketing and Sales, IRKUT Corporation
It’s a pleasure to be here to learn about the different aspects of market. It’s a fantastic opportunity to network not only with airlines but also with different key actors of the air transport industry
Julien Franiatte, Managing Director (Moscow Representative Office), Airbus
Very impressed to see so many people from different parts of the industry taking part in this conference. I really liked a wide range of topics
Dr. Michael Kerkloh, President, ACI Europe
…Conference is raising the level, becoming better and better
Sergey Kravchenko, President, Boeing Russia & CIS
